(Greendale, WI - June 16, 2026) - The Greendale High School Band has been invited to participate in the London Parade and Festival 2028 on January 1, 2028, in London, England. The London Parade is one of the world’s premier marching band events and is a tradition that began in 1987 with just 2,000 performers. Over its 40 years, it has grown into a world-class celebration featuring participants from the United States, United Kingdom, Europe, and beyond, with a reach of 500 million viewers each year.
The Greendale Marching Band has made numerous high profile appearances, including two appearances in both the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City (2016, 2023) and the Rose Parade (2020, 2026) in Pasadena. The London New Year’s Day Parade would represent the band’s first international appearance.
“Participating in this event will offer Greendale students a unique educational opportunity to perform on an international stage while experiencing significant historical, cultural, and educational sites throughout England,” said Tom Reifenberg, Greendale’s Director of Bands. “We are excited and grateful for this opportunity.”
Greendale High School’s Marching Band is the 20-time consecutive (21 times total) Wisconsin State Marching Band Association (WSMA) Class AA State Champion. Tom Reifenberg, Greendale’s Band Director, is beginning his 26th year leading the GHS Marching Band in fall 2026.
