DIRECTOR OF BANDS: Tom Reifenberg

Tom began teaching at Greendale High School in the fall of 2001. He received his undergraduate degree in music education from UW-Whitewater (2001), studying conducting under Dr. Glenn Hayes and piano under Dr. Myung-Hee Chung. Tom attained his masters degree in music education from Boston University (2008) and his masters degree in educational administration from Southeastern Oklahoma State University (2021). Tom was named the recipient of the 2017 Michael G. George Distinguished Service Award, the 2016 Greendale Chamber of Commerce Educator of the Year; a 2015 Herb Kohl Fellowship recipient, honoring excellence in education throughout Wisconsin; Wisconsin's representative in School Band & Orchestra Magazine's annual "50 Directors Who Make a Difference" report (December 2013); one of the youngest members inducted into the Wisconsin Bandmasters Association (June 2015); and recipient of the B93.3FM Teacher of the Month and Teacher of the Year awards (2009). He is the co-founder (2003) and music director of the award-winning Greendale Community Theatre, and has music-directed over 60 theatrical productions throughout the Milwaukee area. A NAfME and WMEA member, he has served on the WSMA state marching band committee and the UWAY Board of Directors. Tom is also the organist at Greendale Community Church, beginning his tenure in October of 2013.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR OF BANDS: Liz Parsons

Liz joined the Greendale percussion staff in January of 2015, and was appointed Assistant Director of Bands in summer of 2016. She recently graduated cum laude from UW-Milwaukee with a BFA in Instrumental/General Music Education as well as Percussion Performance. She studied percussion with Carl Storniolo and Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra percussionists Thomas Wetzel and Dean Borghesani, as well as Sheila Feay-Shaw, Jon Gilliland, Scott Emmons, and Catherine Robertson for Music Education. Liz was awarded percussion, music education, talent, and hard work scholarships during her time at UWM. Liz has a background in marching percussion beginning in Kenosha, WI with the Kenosha Beats Indoor Drumline where she was able to compete in both MPA and WGI. She also participated in Band of the BlackWatch in Kenosha, WI, where she is now a percussion and marching instructor. For two years, Liz worked with the University Youth Wind Ensembles at UWM as a percussion coach, where her duties included percussion equipment and teaching the advanced middle and high school students percussion techniques and rehearsal etiquette. Liz has performed with many ensembles at UWM including Percussion Ensemble, Symphony Band, and Symphony Orchestra. She was also section leader for Wind Ensemble who she traveled with to North Carolina in 2013 for the College Band Directors National Association Conference. They also traveled to San Jose, California in July of 2015 for the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles Conference. Liz continues to perform, most recently with the award-winning Greendale Community Theatre. In addition to her duties at GHS, she teaches lessons at GMS and co-directs the 8th grade band.

He studied composition with Dan Bukvich and Robert Dickow at the University of Idaho and has since made a full-time career in music composition. He specializes in educational music and music for film and media while constantly expanding to other genres. His music is frequently noted as fresh and exciting and in 2013, one of his arrangements was recognized by Rolling Stone Magazine as a "Mind-Blowing Cover". To date, Jeff has composed and arranged over 75 new marching band shows and has received national recognition as a prominent and emerging marching band designer. His shows have competed at all levels of BOA, USBands, Tournament of Bands and Texas UIL. Every year approximately 75 marching bands across the country perform his music, approximately 15 of which perform new commissions. He currently serves as the lead music composer and arranger for the Columbians Drum and Bugle Corps, and previously held the same role with the Eruption Indoor Percussion Ensemble. Specializing in Sound Design for the marching arts, Tim brings a wealth of experience from many genres of storytelling to create powerful, dynamic, and engaging productions. Tim began working in radio broadcasting at KCWU-FM, where he produced nationally-awarded promos and podcasts recognized by College Broadcasters Incorporated and the Intercollegiate Broadcasting System. Fusing radio production techniques with theatrical sound composition, Tim has produced sound design for numerous marching band, winter percussion, and drum corps shows. Well-versed in the marching arts as a performer and educator, he studied Music at Central Washington University and performed with the Oregon Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps and indoor percussion. Valuing both the fine details and the big picture, Tim has worked in electronics design and management with top ensembles in the Pacific Northwest, including Columbians Drum & Bugle Corps (DCI Open), IMPACT Percussion (WGI PIO), OC Indoor (WGI PIW), Oregon Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps (DCI World), and Seattle Cascades Drum & Bugle Corps (DCI World).

Evan Hinds is a marching arts designer, writing drill and percussion arrangements for several bands and percussion ensembles across the country. He serves as a music program consultant and adjudicator throughout the United States for marching bands, concert bands, and chamber ensembles. Currently, Hinds is the Music Ensemble Coordinator for the O’Fallon Township Marching Panthers. Previously at O’Fallon, his duties included 8 years as the caption head for the Marching Panthers Percussion and the director of four concert percussion ensembles. He also currently serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor for Illinois State University, observing student teachers for the music department. Hinds has previously instructed at McKendree University in Lebanon, Illinois, serving as the Marching Bearcats Drumline instructor and arranger along with the Marching Bearcats drill writer. Additionally at McKendree, he taught private percussion lessons, percussion ensemble, percussion methods, marching band methods, and supervised student teachers for the music education program. Hinds was the band director at Triad High School in Troy, IL for eight years and holds music degrees in education and conducting from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. In addition, Mr. Hinds is an artist/endorser for Remo and Innovative Percussion. Hinds resides in O’Fallon, IL with his wife Dr. Melissa Gustafson-Hinds, who is the Director of Bands at O’Fallon Township High School. They have a daughter named Evelyn.

Through his years of teaching he has worked with finalist groups in Drum Corps International and Winter Guard International as well as many Wisconsin State Marching Band Championships. Currently he writes drills for marching bands in Wisconsin, Michigan and Texas and adjudicates all over the country. He is a history teacher at Beloit Memorial High School in Beloit, Wisconsin and resides in Greenfield, Wisconsin.

Brandon currently serves as the Founder and Artistic Director for La Voûte Performance Ensemble and the Director of Education at The Big Muddy Dance Company.

Marcus graduated from Franklin High School in 2012. Throughout his high school career, Marcus played trumpet in the Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, and Pit Orchestra. He served as Drum Major of the Marching Band for 3 years. Marcus performed with the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Youth Jazz Ensemble and also the Bob Kames Jazz All-Stars during high school. He attended UW-Milwaukee for 3 years, during his time there he performed with the Jazz Ensemble. He recently graduated from Milwaukee Area Technical College with an Associate’s Degree in Audio Production. Marcus has 2 years of Drum Corps International experience. He marched with Pioneer in 2011, and the Blue Stars in 2015. Marcus started with the Greendale Marching Band in 2015 as a visual instructor, and he added on the role of mellophone instructor in 2017. He currently resides in Greenfield, WI with his wife, Crystal.

Jack is a performing arts content creator and media professional based out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His past work has involved brands such as: DCI, WGI, UDB, TromboneTimo, Christopher Bill, Midwest Clinic, TMEA, TBA, Fem Forte, Meet The Bus, and The Breakdown Camp, amongst others. Jack has worked with The Blue Stars since 2017- spending the first three years as a performer before transitioning to a staff role in 2021. He also attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison where he participated in the marching band, varsity band, concert band, and university band.

COLORGUARD CAPTION HEAD: Tami Reifenberg

Tami began instructing the Greendale colorguard in the fall of 2005. In 2007, she created the award-winning winterguard program at Greendale to further enhance the skills of the students involved in the fall colorguard marching program. Tami achieved her nursing degree from Marquette University (2006) and was employed at Children’s Hospital in the ICU until she became a stay-at-home mom in 2013. She resumed her nursing career in the Aurora call center in 2015. Tami is also a graduate of Greendale High School and was a four-year member of the marching band and colorguard. She also marched in the Kilties Drum and Bugle Corps from 2003-2005 and with the Tapestry Winterguard in 2005.

Ryan brings a wealth of technical experience to the marching band program. He has worked in the field of sound and light engineering for over a decade, focusing on professional and theatrical performances across southeastern Wisconsin. Ryan is a Greendale High School graduate and is proud to handle sound design and special effects for the marching band.
